WILEY COLLEGE HANDS OAKWOOD THIRD STRAIGHT LOSS

 Wiley College handed Oakwood University its third straight loss Saturday night with a 75-58 victory at Ashby Auditorium.

The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The Wildcats improved to 9-4 and 4-1.

Trenisha Adams (Rome, GA) led Oakwood with 18 points and had six rebounds. Brittany Lawless-Sherill (Goodlettsville, TN) finished with 11 points.

The Ambassadors shot 35.8 percent (24-of-67) from the field, including 25 percent (6-of-24) from 3-point range, and 50 percent (4-of-8) from the free throw line.

Oakwood hurt itself with 20 turnovers and managed just nine points off the bench.

Diamond Hawthorne led four Wiley College players in double figures with 14 points and eight rebounds. Tamia Dolls finished with 11 points, while Jay'lann Myles and Jamiya Eaddy added 10 apiece.

The Wildcats shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the field, including 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from deep, and 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the charity stripe.

Wiley College dominated the paint, outscoring Oakwood 42-22, had a 24-4 advantage on points off turnovers and a 32-9 edge in bench scoring.

Oakwood is off until Jan. 6 when it visits the University of the Virgin Islands.
