BETHEL PULLS AWAY FROM OAKWOOD FOR EASY VICTORY

HENDERSON, Tenn. – Oakwood University fell behind early and never recovered Friday afternoon as Bethel University pulled away for an easy 83-38 victory in the Freed-Hardeman Classic at the Brewer Sports Center.

The Ambassadors trailed 37-24 at intermission and it only got worse from there. Oakwood was outscored 29-5 in the third quarter and the 38 points were a season low.

Nekaya Williams (Atlanta, GA) led Oakwood with nine points.

The Ambassadors shot 26.7 percent (16-of-60) from the field, including 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from 3-point range, and 33.3 percent (1-of-3) from the free throw line.
Oakwood hurt itself with 22 turnovers.

Madison Hart led the Wildcats with 19 points. Kalynn Howard and Anya Patterson finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Oakwood fell to 2-4 with its second straight loss. Bethel improved to 5-2.

Oakwood will take on No. 20 Freed-Hardeman tonight at 6:30. Freed-Hardeman downed Oakland City Friday for its sixth straight win.
