Fresh off of a win over Texas College in the HBCU Women's Invitational in Dallas, Oakwood University will try to make it two in a row when it takes on NCAA Division II and Gulf South Conference foe Shorter University this afternoon.
Tipoff is 4:30 at the Winthrop-King Centre in Rome, Ga.
The Ambassadors enter the game 2-2 overall, while the Hawks are 0-2.
Oakwood is led by
Nekaya Williams (Atlanta, GA),
RB Mitchell (Detroit, Mi) and
Nariah Alexander (Southaven, MS).
Williams is averaging 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. Mitchell is averaging 11.5 points, while
Nariah Alexander is averaging 11.0 rebounds and 10 rebounds.
Shorter will counter with Courtney Lumpkins and Tori Smiley.
Lumpkins is averaging 16 points per game, while Smiley is averaging 11 points per game.
Oakwood is back in action Friday and Saturday at the Freed-Hardeman Classic in Henderson, Tenn.
Oakwood will play Bethel University Friday at 2 p.m. and play Freed-Hardeman Saturday night at 6:30.
