PULASKI, Tenn. – Oakwood University fell behind early and couldn't catch up as Point University pulled away for an easy 82-54 victory Friday afternoon at the Curry Athletic Complex in the UT-Southern Firehawks Classic.
The Ambassadors managed just 14 points in the first half and trailed 37-14 at intermission after shooting just 20.7 percent (6-of-29) from the field, including 0-of-7 from 3-point range in the first 20 minutes.
The loss dropped Oakwood to 0-2 on the season. Point University improved to 3-0.
Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) led the Ambassadors with nine points.
JB Moore (Columbia, SC) finished with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while
Nicholas Kennard (Nashville, TN) added seven points.
Oakwood shot 30.2 percent (19-of-63) from the field, including 20.8 percent (5-of-24) from 3-point range and 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the free throw line.
Robert Kendrick led the Skyhawks with 15 points, while Jacob Crockett finished with 11.
Point University shot 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from the field, including 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from 3-point range and was 12-of-12 from the free throw line.
Oakwood is back in action tonight when it plays host team UT-Southern at 7.
