DILLARD USES BIG SECOND HALF TO RUN PAST OAKWOOD

NEW ORLEANS – Oakwood University men's basketball allowed 50 points in the second half Saturday night as Dillard University came from behind to secure an 87-74 victory inside Dent Hall.

The Ambassadors led 47-37 at intermission, but managed just 27 points in the final 20 minutes and couldn't slow down the Bleu Devils.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 7-15 on the season. Dillard improved to 14-10.

Joshua Barnett led the Ambassadors with 19 points and eight rebounds. Chase Jackson had 13 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Jordan Bell finished with 13 points, while Jason Griffin added 12.

Oakwood shot 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the field, including 36.4 percent (8-of-22) from 3-point range, and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.

Devin Lewis led five Bleu Devils in double figures with 17 points. Christian Pichon Jr. had 14 points, Kialen Phillips 12 and Miles Williams and Wendell Hampton had 10 apiece.

Dillard shot 46.3 percent (31-of-67) from the field, including 50 percent (13-of-26) from beyond the arc, and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood hosts Dalton State Tuesday night.
