MORARA, BELL SHINE FOR OAKWOOD IN LOSS TO DALTON STATE

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Naftal Morara and Jordan Bell combined for 43 points, but it wasn't enough as Dalton State scored early and often enroute to a 77-67 victory over Oakwood University Tuesday night inside Ashby Auditorium.
 
The Roadrunners built a 41-22 advantage at halftime and were never headed. Oakwood outscored Dalton State 45-36 in the second half, but couldn't overcome the large deficit.
 
The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 8-16 overall. The Roadrunners improved to 16-8.
 
Morara finished with a game-high 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting, including a 3-pointer. He also grabbed four rebounds and had three steals.
 
Bell scored 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including a 3-pointer. He also had seven rebounds and two steals.
 
The Ambassadors shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the field, including 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from beyond the arc, and 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from the free throw line.
 
Qualen Pettus led three Dalton State players in double figures with 20 points. Raylan Barrion finished with 16 points, while Omarion Smith had 13 points and 16 reboounds.
 
The Roadrunners shot 47.8 percent (32-of-67) from the field, including 32 percent (8-of-25) from 3-point range, and 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood hosts Philander Smith College Thursday at 6 p.m.
