MITCHELL, JACKSON, JOSIAH NAMED NAIA SCHOLAR ATHLETES

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oakwood University had three student-athletes named 2026 NAIA Scholar-Athletes for winter sports, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday.
 
Senior Julius Mitchell and sophomore Chase Jackson are members of the Ambassadors' men's basketball team, while Lydia Josiah is a member of the women's basketball team.
 
Mitchell, a 5-foot-10 point guard from Tacoma, Wash., is Pre-Law major, while Jackson, 5-8 point guard from Harvest, Ala., is a Computer Science major. Josiah, a 5-2 sophomore guard from Kansas City, Mo., is an Applied Mathematics major.
 
Each semester, the NAIA Scholar-Athlete list celebrates student-athletes who excel in both academic and athletic arenas. This honor recognizes student-athletes in each of the winter sports who have excelled academically, including basketball, bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, swimming & diving and wrestling.
 
To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year.
