MORARA, OAKWOOD DOMINATE PHILANDER SMITH COLLEGE TO SNAP TWO-GAME LOSING STREAK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Naftal Morara scored a game-high 24 points and got plenty of help from his friends as Oakwood University dominated Philander Smith College 88-67 in a men's college basketball game Thursday night inside Ashby Auditorium.
 
The Ambassadors did the bulk of their work inside, outscoring the Panthers 62-34 in the paint to take their most decisive win of the season.
 
Oakwood improved to 9-16 overall and snapped its two-game losing streak. PSC fell to 15-7.
 
Morara filled up the boxscore for the Ambassadors, going 10-of-17 from the field, while making all four of his free throws. He also had three rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.
 
Jordan Bell backed Morara with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Grener Polynice finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He was 7-of-9 from the field with two assists, two steals and a block.
 
Chase Jackson had 10 points, five assists, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
 
Oakwood shot 51.4 percent (36-of-70) from the field, including 17.6 percent (3-of-17) from 3-point range, and 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the free throw line.
 
Jaxson Hampton led PSC with 19 points. Elijah Anderson and Joshua Wallace finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
 
The Panthers shot 37.9 percent (25-of-66) from the field, including 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from beyond the arc, and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood is at Fisk University Saturday night.
