HOWARD, SIMS NAMED TO ALL-HBCUAC PRESEASON SOFTBALL TEAM

AMBASSADORS PICKED TO FINISH FOURTH IN LEAGUE PLAY

NEW ORLEANS – Oakwood University placed two players on the 2026 All-HBCU Athletic Conference preseason softball team league officials announced Tuesday.
 
Shortstop Jordan Howard was named to the team along with outfielder Toni Sims.
 
Howard, a sophomore, was the league's Freshman of the Year a season ago after hitting .303, while scoring 22 runs to go along with 14 RBI.
 
Sims, also a sophomore, batted .337, while scoring 19 runs to go along with 19 RBI last season. She was named to the all-tournament team and ranked eighth in the conference with a .581 slugging percentage.
 
Oakwood was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll with 35 points.
 
Defending champion Stillman College was picked to repeat with 64 points and all eight first-place votes.
 
Dillard University was picked to finish second, followed by Talladega College, Oakwood, Rust College, Voorhees University, Huston-Tillotson and Wiley University.
