BARNETT'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADS OAKWOOD PAST WILBERFORCE

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Joshua Barnett finished with a double-double and three other players finished in double figures as Oakwood University downed Wilberforce University 80-66 Thursday night in an HBCU Athletic Conference game inside Ashby Auditorium.

The win lifted the Ambassadors to 6-13 overall and 4-5 in league play. The Bulldogs, who lost their fifth straight game, fell to 5-11 and 2-6. Wilberforce is now 0-8 on the road.

Barnett scored 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting, pulled down 11 rebounds and had have five steals.

Jordan Bell and Jordan Green finished with 11 points apiece, while Grener Polynice had 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Oakwood shot 54.2 percent (32-of-59) from the field, including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from 3-point range, and 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from the free throw line.

Eduardo Diaz led Bulldogs in double figures with 17 points. Daiquan Coach and Jamir Hymes finished with 10 points each.

Wilberforce shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the field, including 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from beyond the arc, and 52 percent (13-of-25) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is at Rust College next Thursday.
