OAKWOOD REMAINS UNBEATEN IN HBCU PLAY AFTER DOMINATING VOORHEES

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University stayed unbeaten in HBCU Athletic Conference play Saturday night as the Ambassadors won their sixth straight game with a dominating 84-60 victory over Voorhees University inside Ashby Auditorium.
 
Oakwood improved to 11-5 overall and 7-0 in league play. Voorhees fell to 4-9 and 1-5.
 
Trenisha Adams continued her solid play with a game-high 19 points to lead Oakwood.
 
She was very efficient, going 7-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. Adams also had four rebounds, four steals and one assist.
 
Kamaria Murray finished with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, six assists, three rebounds and three steals.
 
Saniya Keys scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
 
Keys' 3-pointer with just under nine minutes left gave Oakwood its largest lead of the game at 76-42.
 
The Ambassadors shot 37.3 percent (28-of-75) from the field, including 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from 3-point range, and 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from the free throw line.
 
Shykiera Brown and Nedisha Ford led Voorhees with eight points each.
 
The Tigers shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the field, including 31.6 percent (6-of-19) from beyond the arc, and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood will visit Stillman College Tuesday night.
