OU FAULKNER POSTGAME 2025

Game Recap: Softball |

FAULKNER SPOILS OAKWOOD'S GOING AWAY PARTY ON SENIOR DAY

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University had hoped to send its four seniors – Sydney Arnett, Ashlyn Hallman, Katie Johnson and Jana Morrow – out with a couple of wins Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately, Faulkner University spoiled the going away party.

The Eagles' pitching stifled the Ambassadors' hitters, holding Oakwood to seven hits enroute to a pair of shutouts on Senior Day.

Faulkner took the opener 7-0 and claimed the nightcap 12-0 at University Field.

Oakwood fell to 7-28 overall, while the Eagles improved to 28-12, taking all four games against the Ambassadors this season.

Game 1

Johnson went 2-for-2, while Jalaa Hawkins, Jordan Howard and Mary McCluskey had a hit each.

Oakwood trailed just 2-0 through the first four innings as Arnett held the Eagles in check.

However, Faulkner pushed four runs across in the top of the fifth inning and the outcome was never in doubt.

Arnett (6-10) took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits in seven innings. She struck out five.

Game 2

Kaley Fuller and Howard had one hit apiece to account for Oakwood's two hits in the nightcap.

Faulkner built a 10-0 lead after three innings and won going away.

Hallman (0-4) took the loss, allowing 12 runs, all earned, on 18 hits in five innings. She walked two and struck out one.

Oakwood will find out Monday who it will play in the HBCUAC Championship. The tournament starts Wednesday at the Wilson Morgan Complex in Decatur.
