SMITH, SIMS NAMED OAKWOOD'S CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – MacKenzie Smith and Toni Sims have been named Oakwood University's Co-Players of the Week sponsored by Zaxby's.

Smith and Sims, newcomers on Oakwood's softball team, were honored for their performances February 24-March 2.

In four games last week, Smith batted .571, going 8-for-14, with four RBI and scored two runs.

A transfer from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Smith, who starts at catcher for the Ambassadors, was 5-for-7 with three RBI in a doubleheader against Tennessee Southern. Then, she went 3-for-7 with one RBI and scored two runs in a doubleheader against Bethel University.

Sims batted .538 with two RBI and scored five runs in four games last week.

A freshman center fielder from Douglasville, Ga., Sims went 4-for-6 with two RBI and scored four runs in a doubleheader against Tennessee Southern. Then, she went 3-for-7 and scored a run in a doubleheader against Bethel University.
