KEYS, ADAMS AND BONE POWER OAKWOOD PAST TALLADEGA IN HBCUAC ACTION

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Saniya Keys, Trenisha Adams and Morgan Bone combined for 47 points and 20 rebounds to help lead Oakwood University to a key 64-55 victory over Talladega College in an important HBCU Athletic Conference game Tuesday night inside the Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center.

The Ambassadors led 21-16 after the first quarter, then outscored the Tornadoes 35-21 over the next two quarters to take a commanding 56-37 advantage into the final 10 minutes and cruised the rest of the way.

The win lifted Oakwood to 10-14 overall and 8-10 in league play. It is the second year in a row the Ambassadors have reached the 10-win plateau.

Talladega College fell to 9-12 and 9-9.

Keys led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds. She was 9-of-16 from the field with one assist and one steal.

Adams finished with 15 points and six rebounds. She was 5-of-7 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, and had two steals.

Bone had 12 points and seven rebounds. She was 6-of-12 from the field with one assist and one steal.

The Ambassadors shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field, including 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from 3-point range, and 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the free throw line.

DeJaria Lewis led Talladega College with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Nobody else reached double figures.

The Tornadoes shot 32.8 percent (20-of-61) from the field, including 30 percent (3-of-10) from beyond the arc, and 60 percent (12-of-20) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood will play in the HBCUAC Championship next week in Tuscaloosa at Stillman College.
