JOSIAH'S 31 POINTS, LATE FREE THROWS HELP OAKWOOD OUTLAST PENSACOLA CHRISTIAN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Lydia Josiah scored 31 points off the bench Tuesday night to help Oakwood University outlast Pensacola Christian College 77-73 inside Ashby Auditorium in a non-conference women's basketball game.
 
Oakwood led 56-54 entering the fourth quarter and the Ambassadors used a 16-10 run to go up 72-64 on a layup by Josiah with just over three minutes remaining.
 
However, the Eagles got a 3-pointer by Brooklyn Bosher, part of a 9-2 run, to pull within 74-73 with 46 seconds left in the game.
 
Fortunately, Jay'Lenia Thomas hit a free throw and Saniya Keys hit two more with two seconds left to seal the victory and give the Ambassadors their first win of the season.
 
Oakwood improved to 1-2 with the victory. PCC fell to 0-1.
 
Josiah, a 5-foot-2 sophomore guard from Kansas City, Mo., was 11-of-25 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line. She also had four rebounds, two steals and an assist.
 
Trenisha Adams finished with her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She was 6-of-12 from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range, while adding four steals and two assists.
 
Keys scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She was 5-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line, including the two big ones with two seconds left to seal the victory.
 
The Ambassadors shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the field, including 30.8 percent (8-of-26) from beyond the arc, and 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the charity stripe.
 
Bosher led the Eagles with 27 points and six rebounds. She had five of PCC's eight 3-pointers.
 
Sky Boyd finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Autumn Boutwell also had 12 points.
 
PCC shot 33.3 percent (24-of-72) from the field, including 28.6 percent (8-of-28) from beyond the arc, and 81 percent (17-of-21) from the free throw line.
 
Oakwood hosts Washington Adventist Saturday night.
