OAKWOOD'S BELL STARS IN LOSS TO PHILANDER SMITH

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Jordan Bell scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, had two blocks and one steal, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University fell 96-59 to Philander Smith this afternoon at the Talladega HBCUAC POD.

The Ambassadors trailed 52-33 at intermission and the outcome was never in doubt.

Oakwood fell to 1-13 overall and 0-7 in league play. Philander Smith improved to 13-3 and 6-2.

Damon Fann and Carson Badgett backed Bell with nine points each for the Ambassadors.

Oakwood shot 39 percent (23-of-59) from the field, including 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point range, and 39.1 percent (9-of-23) from the free throw line.

The Ambassadors were outscored 56-32 in the paint and 56-23 in bench points.

Dakhari Lewis led four Panthers in double figures with 19 points. Amorey Womack, Raymond Reece and Jaxon Hampton scored 13 points each.

The Panthers shot 54.2 percent (39-of-72) from the field, including 50 percent (7-of-14) from beyond the arc, and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood will take on the University of the Virgin Islands tonight at 8.
