HAMILTON, HAMM SHINE, BUT OAKWOOD FALLS TO TALLADEGA IN GCAC CHAMPIONSHIP

JACKSON, Miss. – Tedrus Hamilton hit his sixth homer of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth inning, and Mateo Hamm had an RBI-double in the inning, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University fell 18-3 to Talladega College Wednesday night in the GCAC 2024 Hope Credit Union Baseball Championship at Smith-Wills Stadium.
 
The Ambassadors (2-34) will play Tougaloo College (12-34) Thursday afternoon in a loser's bracket game at 12:30 p.m.
 
Oakwood fell behind 7-0 after three innings, before the Ambassadors tried to make a game of it.
 
Hamilton's homer and Hamm's double pulled Oakwood within 7-3, but the Tornadoes pushed across six runs in the bottom of the fourth and added five more in the sixth to win going away.
 
Hamilton was 1-for-3 with two RBI and scored a run. Chris Aguilar was 2-for-3, while Jeremy Matos was 2-for-4, including a double. Hamm was 1-for-4 with an RBI double, while Jordan Jennings and Jaylen Fairris had a hit apiece. Fairris scored Oakwood's other run.
 
Akari David (0-6) took the loss, allowing seven runs on three hits in 2.2 innings. He walked nine and struck out one.
