OAKWOOD MEN'S BASKETBALL WILL TRY TO AVENGE CLOSE LOSS TO FISK TONIGHT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University believes it should have at least four more wins on its resume.

One of them includes a 67-63 setback at Fisk University back on Jan. 9 when the Ambassadors led 63-58 with under two minutes left and allowed the Bulldogs to close the game on a 9-0 run enroute to the victory.

Oakwood (1-18, 1-9) will try to avenge that loss tonight when Fisk (9-11, 6-5) invades Ashby Auditorium in an important Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at 8:30.

The loss is one of four the Ambassadors have dropped by six points or less this season, three of which have been conference games.

"We've got to learn how to close out games," Oakwood coach Simon Jacob said.

The Ambassadors, currently tied for last place in the GCAC along with the University of the Virgin Islands, are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak and are just 1-6 at home this season. The Bulldogs are in fourth place in the GCAC standings.

Oakwood is led by Judelin Prophete and Nicholas Kennard.

Prophete leads the team in scoring (11.6), rebounding (7.3), assists (25) and blocks (55).
Kennard is averaging 9.8 points per game, while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range. He leads the team with 33 3-pointers.

Fisk has three players averaging in double figures.

Blake Goodman and Jayden Lockett are averaging 17.6 and 17.3 points, respectively, while Tyon Thompson is averaging 15.8 points per game.
