OAKWOOD SUFFERS HEART-BREAKING LOSS TO WASHINGTON ADVENTIST

TACOMA PARK, Md. – Oakwood University suffered a heart-breaking loss Saturday night as Jaylin McNeil's layup as time expired lifted Washington Adventist to an 87-85 victory inside The Pitt.

The Ambassadors trailed 68-58 midway through the second half, but battled back to tie it 85-all on Jordan Bell's layup with two seconds left. However, McNeil got behind Oakwood's defense and his layup gave the Shock the thrilling victory, while the Ambassadors dropped their sixth straight game.

Oakwood fell to 1-8 with the loss, while Washington Adventist improved to 3-7.

Bell led the Ambassadors with 17 points. He was 7-of-10 from the field with six rebounds, one steal and one assist.

Amonte Harmon scored 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. He also had three rebounds and two blocks.

Carson Badgett had 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, one rebound, one steal and one assist, while Jaywill Thornton had 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and one block.

Oakwood shot 52.2 percent (36-of-69) from the field, including 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from 3-point range, and 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from the free throw line.

Range Harper led five WAU players in double figures with 25 points. Chase Cooke and Julian King finished with 14 apiece, while Anthony Perry and Jalen Anderson scored 12 and 11, respectively.

Felix McGhee, who transferred from Oakwood to WAU after last season, failed to score in 15 minutes. He had three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

The Shock shot 49.3 percent (35-of-71) from the field, including 36.4 percent (4-of-11) from beyond the arc, and 65 percent (13-of-20) from the charity stripe.
