OAKWOOD'S ALEXANDER, THORNTON AND HARMON SHINE IN LOSS TO SUNO

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Jamarkus Alexander, Jaywill Thornton and Amonte Harmon combined for 44 points, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University fell 94-79 Saturday night to Southern University of New Orleans at the HBCUAC Crossover inside The Castle.

The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 1-11 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Knights
improved to 4-8 and 3-1.

Alexander scored 17 points to lead Oakwood. He was 7-of-13 from the field to go along with two assists, one rebound and a steal.

Thornton finished with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting and a rebound, while Harmon added 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including two 3-pointers, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Ambassadors shot 40 percent (34-of-85) from the field, including 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from 3-point range, and 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from the free throw line.

Jamal Gibson led SUNO with 24 points and 20 rebounds. Tyon Thompson finished with 14 points.

The Knights shot 48.8 percent (40-of-82) from the field, including 35 percent (7-of-20) from beyond the arc, and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood will take on Tougaloo College Monday afternoon at 3 at Dillard University.
