ROADRUNNERS RUN PAST OAKWOOD IN NON-CONFERENCE GAME

Dalton, Ga. – Three players finished in double figures, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University fell 97-69 to Dalton State Monday night inside Bandy Gym in a non-conference men's basketball game.

The Roadrunners raced out to a commanding 49-18 lead at intermission and the Ambassadors never had a chance despite outscoring Dalton State 51-48 in the second half.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 1-3 on the season. Dalton State improved to 2-0.

Khari Person and Nicholas Kennard led the Ambassadors with 14 points each.

Person was 5-of-7 from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He also had two rebounds and a steal.

Kennard was 5-of-9 from the field, including 1-of-3 from beyond the arc. He also had three rebounds and three assists.

Jordan Bell finished with 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including a 3-pointer. He also had six rebounds.

Oakwood shot 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the field, including 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from 3-point range, and 70 percent (14-of-20) from the free throw line.

The Ambassadors were outscored 58-22 on points in the paint and 34-12 on points off of turnovers.

Matt Compas led four Dalton State players in double figures with 21 points.

Qualen Pettus and Caterius Evans had 16 points apiece, while Antonio Lewis added 11.

The Roadrunners shot 54.4 percent (37-of-68) from the field, including 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from beyond the arc, and 64 percent (16-of-25 from the charity stripe.

Oakwood takes on Alabama A&M in an exhibition game Thursday at 5:30 p.m. inside the Event Center.
