THREE PLAYERS FINISH IN DOUBLE FIGURES AS OAKWOOD FALLS TO UVI

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – Three players finished in double figures, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University fell 76-68 to the University of the Virgin Islands Saturday night at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game.

The Ambassadors fell to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Buccaneers improved to 3-7 and 1-3.

Nicholas Kennard (Nashville, TN) led Oakwood with 16 points. He was 5-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and made both of his free throws. Kennard also had two rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks, while Brian Williams (Colquitt, GA) had 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, and four rebounds.

The Ambassadors shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field, including 31.6 percent (6-of-19) from 3-point range, and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the free throw line.

Jalil Langston led four UVI players in double figures.

Langston finished with a game-high 20 points while playing all 40 minutes.

Naythan Shaw-Clark had 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks, while William Steger and Nasir Watson finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Maurice Smith Jr. scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Buccaneers shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the field, including 40 percent (6-of-15) from deep, and 75 percent (18-of-24) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood visits Fisk University Tuesday night.
