EDWARDS FINISHES IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN LOSS TO FREED-HARDEMAN

HENDERSON, Tenn. – Justin Edwards scored 10 points, but it wasn't enough as No. 7 Freed-Hardman handed Oakwood University its seventh straight loss with an 89-54 victory Tuesday night at the Brewer Sports Center.
 
The Ambassadors fell behind 48-24 at intermission and didn't threaten the Lions the rest of the way.
 
Oakwood fell to 1-18 after the loss. Freed-Hardeman improved to 18-3.
 
Judelin Prophete backed Edwards with eight points, five rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Amonte Harmon finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
 
The Ambassadors shot 31.8 percent (21-of-66) from the field, including 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from 3-point range, and 70 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line.
 
Phil Horton led four Freed-Hardeman players in double figures with 13 points. Quan Lax, JJ Wheat and Geraldo Lane finished with 10 apiece. Lane played locally at Columbia High School.
 
The Lions shot 51.5 percent (35-of-68) from the field, including 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from deep, and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood hosts Fisk University Saturday night in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The women's game tips off at 6:30, followed by the men's game at 8:30.
