PROPHET BOUNCES BACK, BUT OAKWOOD FALLS AT HOME TO DILLARD

Two days after struggling in a loss to Southern University of New Orleans, Oakwood University senior forward Judelin Prophete was determined to have a bounce back game.

That's exactly what happened Saturday night against Dillard University.

Prophete (Miami, FL) scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed four rebounds and had four blocks, but it wasn't enough as the Bleu Devils downed the Ambassadors 71-58 in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at Ashby Auditorium.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 1-15 overall and 1-7 in league play. Dillard improved to 8-7 and 4-4.

The game was tied at 28 at intermission and the Ambassadors trailed just 46-40 after Brian Williams' layup with 12:42 remaining. Unfortunately, Oakwood went scoreless over the next four minutes as Dillard extended its lead to 53-40 and the Ambassadors never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Williams (Colquitt, GA) and Jaywill Thornton (Brooklyn, MS) finished with 11 points apiece for Oakwood.

The Ambassadors shot 42.9 percent (24-of-56) from the field, including 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from deep, and 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from the free throw line.

Tory Cargo led three Dillard players in double figures with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Armond Williams and Mike Reeves finished with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bleu Devils shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field, including 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from deep, and 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood visits Rust College Monday night at 8.
