OAKWOOD SOCCER HOSTS TALLADEGA COLLEGE TODAY IN A DOUBLEHEADER

Oakwood University soccer will be on display today as Talladega College comes to town for a doubleheader. The Lady Ambassadors (0-1) will take on the Lady Tornadoes (2-5) at 1 p.m., followed by the Ambassadors (0-1-1) and the Tornadoes (1-2-1) at 3 p.m. at University Field.

It will be just the second game for the Oakwood women this season. The Lady Ambassadors fell 6-2 to Wesleyan College back on Sept. 10. The game was tied 2-2 more than 30 minutes in, but the Wolves scored four consecutive goals over a seven-minute span to take a 6-2 lead at intermission enroute to the victory,

Nicevarlyn Philippe and JyAire McEachin scored a goal apiece to lead Oakwood. Goalkeeper Amarlin Sosa had seven saves.

Talladega has won two in a row since opening the season with five straight losses. Jenally Barco has scored five of the Tornadoes' seven goals this season. Goalkeeper Natalie Need has 53 saves.

On the men's side, Oakwood will try to win its first game after tying Fisk University 3-3 and falling to Mississippi University for Women 7-0 in its last outing.

Raphael Sende (Makurdi, Nigeria) leads the Ambassadors with two goals, while Akio Lopez (Gunma, Japan) has one. Goalkeeper Gaston Prophete (Atlanta, GA) has five saves.

Talladega blanked Tougaloo College 6-0 Wednesday for its first win of the season. Tavar Lawrence has three goals to lead the Tornadoes, while Christopher Syms has two.
