HERNANDEZ HAS HUGE DAY, BUT OAKWOOD NO MATCH FOR TOUGALOO

Jorge Hernandez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) went 4-for-5 with three RBI Thursday, but it wasn't enough as Tougaloo College swept a doubleheader from Oakwood, beating the Ambassadors 16-4 and 24-3 at John Hunt Park.

The losses dropped Oakwood to 0-17 overall and 0-11 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. Tougaloo improved to 8-24 and 5-6.

First Game
Hernandez's two-out, two-run double in the first inning scored Jeremy Matos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Obed Herrera (Pinar del Rio, Cuba) to pull Oakwood within 3-2. However, Tougaloo erupted for 13 runs over the next two innings to take a commanding 16-2 lead.
Jayden Rolling (Atlanta GA) scored on a ground out by Dylan Grigorius (San Nicholas, Aruba) in the bottom of the third to make it 16-3 and Hernandez singled to score Matos to make it 16-4, but the Ambassadors couldn't get any closer.

Matos went 1-for-2 and scored two runs, while Rolling, Herrera and Grigorius had one hit apiece.

Hernandez took the loss, allowing 10 runs, all earned, on five hits in two innings. He walked three and struck out two.

Second Game
