TENNESSEE SOUTHERN TOO MUCH FOR OAKWOOD


PULASKI, Tenn. – Erick Perez, Jorge Hernandez and Jeremy Matos had two hits apiece, but Tennessee Southern was too much for Oakwood University, beating the Ambassadors 18-0 and 23-2 Tuesday afternoon at Bobby Walker Field.

The losses dropped Oakwood to 0-22 on the season. Tennessee Southern improved to 30-15.

First Game
The Ambassadors managed only three hits in the opener and hurt themselves with five errors.

Matos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), Hernandez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Jordan Jennings (Greenville, MS) all had singles. Jennings also had a stolen base.

Hernandez took the loss, allowing 18 runs, including 10 earned, on 11 hits in four innings. He walked four and struck out three.

Second Game
Oakwood trailed 11-0 after the second inning and never recovered.

The Ambassadors scored their two runs in the third inning.

Matos singled with one out and advanced to third on an error. One out later, Hernandez doubled to score Matos to make it 11-1. Hernandez stole third and scored on a throwing error by the catcher to account for Oakwood's second run.

Hernandez was 1-for-1 with an RBI-double, scored a run, walked twice and stole a base.

Perez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) was 2-for-3, while Matos was 1-for-3 and scored a run.

Framber Rodriguez (San Isidro, Dominican Republic) fell to 0-2 with the loss. He allowed 11 runs, including 10 earned, on 12 hits, while walking two.

Oakwood hosts Rust College today and Friday in its last Gulf Coast Athletic Conference series of the season. Today's first pitch is set for 4:05 at John Hunt Park.
