NEW ORLEANS, La. –

Jeremy Matos and
DiMarcos Pereira all recorded hits for Oakwood University, but Dillard University scored early and often to beat the Ambassadors 21-1 Monday afternoon in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
Oakwood fell to 0-20 overall and 0-14 in league play. Dillard improved to 15-27 and 11-4.
Dillard erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding lead.
Pereira (Keene, TX) doubled with two outs in the top of the second inning and scored when Chandler (Columbia, MD) drove him in with a single to give the Ambassadors' their lone run.
Pereira was 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.
Jeremy Matos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) was 1-for-1 and walked twice, while Chandler was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Matos took the loss, allowing 17 runs, including 16 earned, on 13 hits. He walked four and struck out two.
Oakwood is back in action today at Tennessee Southern. The doubleheader starts at 3.
