Four different players had hits in Oakwood University's Gulf Coast Athletic Conference- opening series, but Wiley College swept all three games over the weekend at John Hunt Park.
The Wildcats downed the Ambassadors 21-1 on Thursday, then took Sunday's doubleheader 18-1 and 20-0.
Oakwood fell to 0-9 overall and 0-3 in league play.
The Ambassadors failed to get a hit in Thursday's opener, but
Obed Herrera (Pinar del Rio, Cuba),
Ian Chandler (Columbia, MD) and
Erick Perez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) came away with hits in Sunday's opener.
Herrera was 1-for-3 and scored the Ambassadors' lone run on an RBI-double by Chandler in the fifth inning. Chandler finished 1-for-2 with an RBI. Perez was 1-for-2 with a double.
Jorge Hernandez (Santo Domingo, Dominican, Republic) fell to 0-2 with the loss. He allowed 13 runs, 11 earned, on 11 hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out four.
Hernandez had Oakwood's lone hit in Sunday's finale. He finished 1-for-2 with a walk.
DiMarcos Pereira (Keene, TX) fell to 0-1 with the loss. He allowed 18 runs, 11 earned, on eight hits in three innings. He walked eight and struck out three.
Oakwood hosts Philander Smith College this weekend in GCAC play at John Hunt Park. First pitch Saturday is set for 8:15 p.m. Sunday's doubleheader will start at 10 am.
