OAKWOOD FALLS TO 0-9 AFTER FALLING TO TALLADEGA COLLEGE

Oakwood University fell behind early Saturday night and couldn't catch up as Talladega College pulled away for an easy 63-36 victory in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at Ashby Auditorium.

The Ambassadors fell to 0-9 with the loss and 0-2 in league play. The Tornadoes improved to 8-1 and 1-0.
Oakwood trailed 31-16 at intermission and things didn't get much better in the second half. The 36 points were a season low for the Ambassadors.

Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) led Oakwood with 12 points. He was 6-of-10 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Nobody else had more than five points.

The Ambassadors shot 23.3 percent (14-of-60) from the field, including 15 percent (3-of-20) from 3-point range, and 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from the free throw line.

JaVonnie Bickham and Issad Solano led Talladega with 11 points apiece. Lamont Sams added 10. Bickham and Sams had eight rebounds apiece as Talladega outrebounded Oakwood 50-24.

The Tornadoes shot 46.2 percent (24-of-52) from the field, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from 3-point range, and 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from the free throw
line.

Oakwood visits Stillman College Tuesday night.
