OAKWOOD DESPERATE FOR A WIN AS TALLADEGA COMES TO TOWN

Desperate.

That's the word Oakwood University men's basketball coach Simon Jacob used in describing his team.

Mired in an eight-game losing streak, the Ambassadors welcome Talladega College to Ashby Auditorium tonight for a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game. Tipoff is 30 minutes after the women's game.

"We're desperate for a win," Jacob said. "We've got to play that way if we want to snap this eight-game losing streak."

Oakwood enters the game 0-8 overall and 0-1 in league play. Talladega, winners of five in a row, are 7-1 and 1-0.

Tougaloo College has been the one common opponent between the two teams.

Talladega won 76-72 at Tougaloo back on Nov. 14, while Oakwood fell at Tougaloo Thursday night 75-57.

Nicholas Kennard (Nashville, TN) and Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) lead the Ambassadors.

Kennard is averaging 10 points per game, while Prophete is averaging 9.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.

Talladega will counter with JaVonni Bickham and D'Andre Boyd, who are averaging 10.6 and 9.8 points, respectively.
