TOUGALOO HANDS OAKWOOD ITS EIGHTH STRAIGHT LOSS DESPITE SOLID EFFORT FROM WILLIAMS, DICKERSON, AND KENNARD

TOUGALOO, Miss. – Brian Williams, Amyr Dickerson and Nicholas Kennard combined for 43 points, but it wasn't enough as Tougaloo College handed Oakwood University its eighth straight loss Thursday night, beating the Ambassadors 75-57 in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game.

Williams (Colquitt, GA) finished with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including two 3-pointers, two free throws, three rebounds, one steal and three blocks.

Dickerson (Atlanta, GA) scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including two 3-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds. Kennard (Nashville, TN), finished with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including three 3-pointers.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 0-8 on the season and 0-1 in league play. Tougaloo improved to 6-3 and 1-1.

The Ambassadors trailed 31-23 at halftime, but were outscored 44-34 in the second half.

While Oakwood got 49 points from its starters, the bench managed just eight points. Meanwhile, Tougaloo got 50 points from its bench.

Oakwood shot 38.3 percent (23-of-60) from the field, including 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from deep, and 50 percent (3-of-6) from the free throw line.

Keondre Montgomery led three Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points. Landon Jeffries finished with 14 points, while Tyler Hudson added 11.

Tougaloo shot 47.7 percent (31-of-65) from the field, including 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from 3-point range, and 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the free throw line.
