OAKWOOD WILL TRY TO SNAP FOUR-GAME LOSING STREAK AS NO. 8 FREED-HARDEMAN COMES TO TOWN

Oakwood University, seeking to snap its four-game losing streak, will welcome No. 8 Freed-Hardeman to town tonight at Ashby Auditorium. Tipoff is 7.

The Ambassadors, coming off a lopsided loss to Stillman, have struggled mightily.

Simon Jacob's team is averaging just 57.5 points per game, while allowing almost 82 per outing. Also, Oakwood is shooting a paltry 36.4 percent from the field, including just 17.4 percent from 3-point range.

"You can't win if you can't put the ball in the basket," Jacob said. "Hopefully, we can untracked this week."

That could be difficult against the 3-0 Lions.

Freed-Hardeman is averaging 88 points per game and has four players averaging in double figures.

Point guard J.J. Wheat is averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game. Forward Hunter Scurlock (13.7), guard Geraldo Lane (12.0) and forward Peyton Law (11.3) are also averaging in double figures. Lane, a junior from Huntsville, played at Columbia High School. Junior Chase Fiddler, a former Bob Jones standout, is also at Freed-Hardeman after starting his career at Flagler College in Florida.

Oakwood's leading scorers are Nicholas Kennard (Nashville, TN), Jaywill Thornton (Brooklyn, MS) and Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL).

Kennard is averaging 8.75 points per game, while Thornton and Prophete are averaging 8.25 per contest.
