OAKWOOD HOSTS CUMBERLAND TONIGHT

AMBASSADORS TRY TO SNAP EIGHT-GAME LOSING STREAK

A week after putting together one of its more spirited efforts of the season in a loss to Gulf Coast Athletic Conference leader Tougaloo College, Oakwood University is back in action tonight when it hosts Cumberland University at Ashby Auditorium.

Tipoff is 7:00 P.M..

Oakwood enters tonight's game 2-15 overall. Meanwhile, Cumberland is 11-11.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season.

Oakwood stunned then-No. 20 Cumberland 74-73 back on Nov. 28 in Lebanon, Tenn.

Edmen Steward and Judelin Prophete combined for 47 points in the victory. Steward had 27 points and went on to earn GCAC Player of the Week honors, while Prophete finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Since then, the Ambassadors have lost eight straight games, including five in a row at home. The Phoenix downed Shawnee State 67-65 Saturday night to snap a three-game losing streak.

Prophete (Miami, FL) leads Oakwood in scoring and rebounding. The 6-foot-5 freshman is averaging 13.9 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Steward is out for the season with a torn meniscus.

Jordan Stephens and Ty'Reek Johnson are averaging 16.1 and 11.3 points, respectively, to lead Cumberland.

After tonight's game, Oakwood has two home games remaining.

The Ambassadors host Miles College on Feb. 14 and Fisk University on Feb. 16 in its last GCAC regular season game.
