Oakwood University didn't have enough firepower to keep up with Dillard University Sunday night in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Round Up.
Playing without leading scorer
Edmen Steward, who was lost for the season last weekend with a torn meniscus, and without two other key contributors due to off-the-court issues, the Ambassadors couldn't keep pace with the Bleu Devils.
For the second time in nine days, Jacob's team was simply no match for Dillard.
Four players finished in double figures as Dillard came away with an 83-63 victory over Oakwood in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Round Up at Ashby Auditorium.
The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Bleu Devils, who beat Oakwood 96-59 last weekend in New Orleans, improved to 11-2 and 3-1.
Dillard raced out to a 15-2 lead four minutes into the game and never looked back. Oakwood never got closer than 11 points the rest of the game.
Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) led the Ambassadors with 12 points.
Brian Williams (Colquitt, GA) and
Justin Edwards (Bradenton, FL) finished with 10 apiece.
Oakwood shot 36.7 percent (22-of-60) from the field, including 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from 3-point range, and 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the free throw line.
Kenyon Duling and Dwight Felton led four Dillard players in double figures with 17 points apiece.
The Bleu Devils shot 50.8 percent (31-of-61) from the field, including 50 percent (12-of-24) from 3-point range, and 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from the charity stripe.
Oakwood will take on Philander Smith College tonight at 7.
