Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – Despite having three players finish in double figures, Oakwood University couldn't keep up with hot-shooting Rust College in an 88-57 setback Sunday afternoon at Dillard University's Dent Hall in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Round Up.

The Ambassadors were solid in the first half, trailing just 39-31 at intermission, but were outscored 49-26 in the second half.

"We've got to learn how to put two halves together," said Oakwood coach Simon Jacob, who has played the last two games without Edmen Steward, the Ambassadors' leading scorer, who is out with a knee injury. "We're going to go back to work this week and see if we can get things turned around."

The loss, Oakwood's fifth straight, dropped the Ambassadors to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in league play. Rust improved to 5-10 and 2-2.

Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) led  Oakwood with 13 points and six rebounds. Robert Booker II (Laurel, MD) and Justin Edwards (Bradenton, FL) scored 10 points each.

The Ambassadors shot 46 percent (23-of-50) from the field, including 11.1 percent (1-of-9)  from 3-point range, and 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from the free throw line. Oakwood also hurt itself with 20 turnovers.

Damonte Streate led three Rust players in double figures with 24 points.

The Bearcats shot 59.3 percent (33-of-59) from the field, including 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from 3-point range, and 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood will host the second GCAC Round Up starting Sunday at Ashby Auditorium.
