OAKWOOD STRUGGLES IN LOSS TO DILLARD WITHOUT LEADING SCORER

STEWARD SIDELINED WITH KNEE INJURY

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Judelin Prophete and Felix McGhee finished in double figures, but Oakwood University struggled without leading scorer Edmen Steward as home-standing Dillard University came away with a 96-59 victory at Dent Hall in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Round Up Saturday night.

Steward sustained a knee injury Friday night against Wiley College and was unable to play against the Bleu Devils and will not likely play later today against Rust College, according to Oakwood coach Simon Jacob.

Oakwood trailed 47-28 at intermission and never threatened to get back in the game.

The  Ambassadors fell to 2-11 overall with the loss and 0-3 in league play. Dillard improved to 11-1 and 3-0.

Prophete (Miami, FL) led Oakwood with 13 points and eight rebounds. McGhee (Montgomery, AL) finished with 10 points.

The Ambassadors shot 33.9 percent (21-of-62) from the field, including 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from 3-point range, and 52.2 percent from the free throw line.

Kenyon Duling led Dillard with 20 points. He was one of five Bleu Devils in double figures.

Dillard shot 48.6 percent (36-of-74) from the field, including 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from 3-point range, and 84.2 percent (16-of-19) from the charity stripe.
