Treneisha Adams, Nekaya Williams and Chyna Brown combined for 44 points, but despite their solid effort, Oakwood University lost its 10
th straight game Thursday night at Stillman College.
The Lady Tigers downed the Lady Ambassadors 87-57 at Birthright Alumni Hall to take the season series in Tuscaloosa.
The loss dropped Oakwood to 0-10, while Stillman improved to 7-1.
The Lady Ambassadors started strong, leading 4-0 and 7-3 early on. However, the Lady Tigers used a big run to close out the first quarter to take a 25-13 advantage after the first 10 minutes. It was 39-25 at intermission and 73-48 at the end of the third quarter.
Stillman outrebounded Oakwood 58-32, outscored Oakwood 46-20 in the paint and got 33 points from its bench compared to just five for the Lady Ambassadors, who also had 25 turnovers.
Adams finished with a team-high 18 points on six 3-pointers. She also had four steals. Williams had 15 points, while Brown added 11.
Oakwood shot 33 percent (19-of-58) from the field, 27 percent (7-of-26) from 3-point range and 57 percent (12-of-21) from the free throw line.
Laneja Warner led three Stillman College players in double figures with 18 points.
Oakwood hosts Crowley Ridge College Saturday night at 6:30 at Ashby Auditorium
