STILLMAN EXTENDS OAKWOOD'S LOSING STREAK TO 6 STRAIGHT GAMES

ALEXANDER BRIGHT SPOT FOR AMBASSADORS IN LOSS

Box Score Oakwood University came to Tuscaloosa Thursday night hoping to snap its five-game  losing streak. Unfortunately, Stillman College, which had struggled out of the gate, refused to cooperate.

The Ambassadors played well the first eight-plus minutes of the game, but the Tigers used a 21-11 run to close the first half and gradually pulled away in the second half to come away with a 95-68 victory at Birthright Alumni Hall.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 1-7 on the season, while Stillman, which avenged a season-opening loss to the Ambassadors, improved to 2-3.

Justin Edwards' jumper with just under 12 minutes left in the first half pulled the Ambassadors within 24-18, but the Tigers flexed their muscles over the next 12 minutes to take a 45-29 advantage at halftime and gradually pulled away. Oakwood never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.

Judeline Prophete (Miami, FL) finished with a team-high 18 points. He was 8-of-15 from the field and made both of his free throws. He also had seven rebounds, two assists, three steals and a blocked shot.

Nathan Alexander backed Prophete with 14 points. He was perfect from the field, going 5-for-5, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Alexander also had five rebounds in just 11 minutes.

The Ambassadors shot 44 percent (25-of-57) from the field, including 39 percent (7-of-18) from 3-point range and 69 percent (11-of-16) from the free throw line.

Tomias Brand led five Tigers in double figures with 21 points.

Stillman outscored Oakwood 36-22 in the paint, 22-6 on second-chance points and 22-11 off turnovers.

Oakwood visits Miles College on Saturday.
