MURRAY'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH TO GET OAKWOOD IN WIN COLUMN

FAIRFIELD, Ala. – Kamaria Murray posted her second straight double-double Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough as Miles College downed Oakwood University 3-1 in a volleyball match inside Fairfield High School.
 
The Ambassadors fell to 0-3 with the loss, while the Golden Bears improved to 1-0.
 
After falling 25-21 in the first set, Oakwood tied the match with a 25-23 win in the second set.
 
Miles, an NCAA Division II program in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, flexed its muscle over the next two sets, beating Oakwood 25-17 and 25-16.
 
Murray finished with 19 kills and 12 digs. Alexis Wiley also recorded a double-double, finishing with 31 assists and 13 digs.
 
Tonie Davis backed Murray with six kills, while Mona Okello finished with seven digs.
 
Karea Copeland led Miles with 14 kills and 11 digs. Jaharia Hunter had 11 kills, while Alyzia Cola had a game-high 40 assists.
 
Oakwood continues its run through the SIAC tonight when it visits Tuskegee. First serve is set for 7 inside Chappie James Arena.
