OAKWOOD FALLS TO FISK IN HBCUAC OPENER FOR BOTH TEAMS

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University volleyball has improved dramatically over the last three years, but it still has a ways to go to get to be among the elite teams in the HBCU Athletic Conference.
 
Fisk University, one of the better programs in the HBCUAC, came to town Thursday night and flexed its muscle enroute to a 3-0 win over Oakwood in the league opener for both teams.
 
The Bulldogs downed the Ambassadors 25-7, 25-15 and 25-20.
 
Oakwood fell to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in league play with the loss. Fisk improved to 10-4 and 1-0.
 
Kamaria Murray led the Ambassadors with seven kills. Summer Miller and Tonie Davis finished with six and five assists, respectively.
 
Hannah Daniel finished with a game-high 12 digs, while Murray added six.
 
The Ambassadors played without setter Alexis Wiley, who entered the match averaged double digits in assists and digs.
 
Chennille McClellan led the Bulldogs with nine kills.
 
Kaia Barnett had 22 assists and 11 digs.
 
Oakwood is back in action Monday at home against Tuskegee. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
