OAKWOOD STARTS STRONG, BUT BRYAN PULLS OUT WIN IN FIVE SETS

DAYTON, Tenn. – Oakwood University gave Bryan College all it could handle Tuesday night, but in the end the Ambassadors couldn't hang on as the Lady Lions came away with a 3-2 victory in  a college volleyball match inside Summers Gymnasium.
 
Bryan outlasted Oakwood 26-24, 20-25, 20-25, 25-16 and 15-8 in five sets.
 
The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 0-2, while the Lady Lions improved to 3-1.
 
After dropping the first set, Oakwood took a 2-1 lead by winning the next two sets 25-20. However, Bryan came alive on its home court winning the last two sets to take the win.
 
Kamaria Murray led the Ambassadors with a terrific all-around game, finishing with 11 kills, 12 digs and four aces.
 
Alexis Wiley had 24 assists, 14 digs and three kills, while freshman Hannah Daniel finished with 12 digs, three assists, three aces and a kill.
 
Freshman Massiah Sterling had six kills, while Harmonie Banks finished with five. Shania McKelvey backed Wiley and Daniel with eight digs.
 
Shelby Kelly led Bryan with 15 kills and 18 digs.
 
Bella Rollins, Grace Bestler and Madison Seabolt finished with 11, 10 and nine kills, respectively.
 
Kaci Wade had a match-high 45 assists, while Avery Baxter finished with 17 digs and Jaylynn Bullock added 13.
 
Oakwood is back in action Tuesday at Miles College. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
