OAKWOOD PLACES 65 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON 2025-2026 HBCUAC COMMISSIONER'S HONOR ROLL

NEW ORLEANS – Oakwood University had 65 student-athletes named to the 2025-2026 HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Commissioner's Honor Roll, league officials recently announced.
 
Student-athletes across the Ambassadors' seven sports were recognized.
 
An incredible 988 student-athletes across the conference were honored for maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher during the semester in which their respective sport concluded.

Men's soccer and baseball led the way with 12 honorees each, followed by women's soccer (11), women's basketball (10), women's volleyball and softball with eight each, and men's basketball with four.
 
Anna Jones was named to the honor roll in volleyball and softball, while Morgan Bone earned recognition in volleyball and basketball.
 
Greg Peters, who serves as Oakwood's Faculty Athletic Representative, was thrilled with the success of the Ambassadors' student-athletes.
 
"As the FAR last year, I am extremely proud of our student-athletes who earned recognition on the HBCUAC Commissioner's Honor Roll," Peters said. "Their achievement reflects their hard work, discipline, and commitment both in the classroom and in competition.
 
"They represent Oakwood University exceptionally well and it's a well-deserved honor."
 
A total of 109 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Oakwood had seven student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
The list includes Hismary Hernandez (women's soccer), Vuyo Sibanda (men's soccer), Cameryn Bucknor, Miriangie Rondon and Alexis Wiley (women's volleyball), Julius Mitchell (men's basketball) and Jatya Lester (women's basketball).
 
Wiley led the conference with a remarkable 153 student-athletes earning honor roll distinction. Stillman College (105) and Talladega College (92) rounded out the top three institutions with strong academic showings.
