MURRAY, SANDERS AND JACKSON NAMED OAKWOOD'S PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Kamaria Murray, Shaniya Sanders and Chase Jackson were named Oakwood University's Players of the Week Monday for the week ending Feb. 8.
 
Murray, a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard from Murfreesboro, Tenn., averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds and four assists in leading the Ambassadors to a 1-1 record last week.
 
She had 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range in an 80-58 win over Tougaloo College on Thursday.
 
Murray followed up that effort with 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in a loss to Dillard University Saturday. In that game, she was 6-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
 
For the week, Murray shot 55 percent (11-of-20) from the field, including 64 percent (7-of-11) from 3-point range, and 100 percent (6-of-6) from the free throw line.
 
Sanders, a 5-11 freshman shooting guard from Augusta, Ga., averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game in leading Oakwood to a 1-1 record last week.
 
She had 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and was 4-of-4 from the free throw line to go along with 10 rebounds in an 80-58 win over Tougaloo College on Thursday.
 
Sanders followed up that effort with 13 points, two rebounds and two assists in a loss to Dillard University Saturday. In that game, she was 6-of-12 from the field. For the week, Sanders shot 50 percent (11-of-22) from the field and 100 percent (4-of-4) from the charity stripe.
 
Jackson, a 5-8 sophomore point guard from Harvest, averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, four assists and 2.6 steals in leading the Ambassadors to a 2-1 record last week.
 
He had 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in an 74-69 win at Tougaloo College.
 
A former Sparkman High School standout, Jackson had 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in an 85-75 win over the University of the Virgin Islands.
 
Jackson finished the week with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, 3-of-3 from the free throw line, five rebounds, six assists and three steals in an 87-74 loss at Dillard University.
 
For the week, Jackson shot 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the field, including 50 percent (4-of-8) from 3-point range, and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the charity stripe.
