JOSIAH COMES UP BIG TO HELP OAKWOOD BATTLE BACK TO BEAT TOUGALOO

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Lydia Josiah scored 12 of her 15 points after halftime as Oakwood University battled back and came away with a 62-60 victory over Tougaloo University Saturday night in a women's non-conference basketball game inside Ashby Auditorium.
 
Trailing 50-38 late in the third quarter, Josiah scored seven points during an 8-0 Oakwood run to pull the Ambassadors within 50-46 going into the fourth.
 
Trenisha Adams, who backed Josiah with 12 points, nailed a 3-pointer with 4:33 remaining to tie the game at 54 apiece.
 
Josiah made some huge free throws down the stretch and the Ambassadors escaped with the narrow victory after Maia Turner missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer as time expired.
 
The win, Oakwood's second straight and sixth in its last seven games, lifted the Ambassadors to 7-5 overall. The Bulldogs fell to 2-8.
 
Josiah was 3-of-4 from the field, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range, and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.
 
The Ambassadors shot 29.6 percent (16-of-54) from the field, including 29.2 percent (7-of-24) from 3-point range, and 59 percent (23-of-39) from the free throw line.
 
Brayland Ferguson led the Bulldogs with 20 points.
 
Tougaloo shot 28.8 percent (19-of-66) from the field, including 20 percent (4-of-20) from beyond the arc, and 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the charity stripe.
