ABRAHAMS SCORES, BUT OAKWOOD FALLS TO TOUGALOO IN HBCUAC OPENER

RIDGELAND, Miss. – Isaac Abrahams scored Oakwood University's first goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as Tougaloo College came away with a 3-1 victory in the first-ever HBCU Athletic Conference opener for both teams Sunday afternoon.
 
The Ambassadors fell to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in league play. The Bulldogs improved to 1-1 and 0-1.
 
Helix Owusu scored back-to-back goals early on to give Tougaloo a 2-0 lead. Abrahams scored on a penalty kick at the 40:06 mark to pull the Ambassadors within 2-1.
 
Owusu scored his third goal of the game at the 53:20 mark to round out the scoring.
 
Abrahams had one goal, five shots and two shots on goal to lead Oakwood.
 
Akio Hirata had four shots, including one on goal, while Alessandro Davis had three shots.
 
Goalkeeper Neriah Bean had four saves, but gave up three goals.
 
Oakwood outshot Tougaloo 16-15, but the Bulldogs had seven shots on goal, while the Ambassadors finished with six.
