Bucknor named OU Volleyball Coach

BUCKNOR NAMED NEW VOLLEYBALL COACH AT OAKWOOD

Wayne Bucknor was recently named the head women's volleyball coach at Oakwood University, athletics director Simon Jacob said.

It will be Bucknor's second stint leading the Ambassadors. He served as head coach from 2010-2015 when Oakwood was a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

Most recently, Bucknor served as an assistant under former head coach Takhera Sanders at Oakwood from 2023-2025. Sanders and Bucknor helped the Ambassadors to back-to -back conference tournament appearances.

Bucknor has also coached on the high school varsity level for nine years and has remained active playing in local volleyball associations for more than 20 years at the highest level of competition.

Bucknor's daughter, Cameryn, is a rising senior setter for the Ambassadors.
