OAKWOOD VISITS VOORHEES IN IMPORTANT HBCUAC DOUBLEHEADER

DENMARK, S.C. – Oakwood University will visit Voorhees University Saturday in a key HBCU Athletic Conference doubleheader inside the Leonard E. Dawson Resource Center.

The women's game tips off at 6, followed by the men's game.

Men's Preview

The Ambassadors and Tigers enter Saturday's game tied for last place in the East Division.

Oakwood is 4-22 overall and 3-13 in league play, while Voorhees is 6-18 and 3-13.

Coach Simon Jacob's team is 2-1 in its last three games after a 2-21 start.

The Ambassadors outlasted the Tigers 73-70 Wednesday in Huntsville as Jamarkus Alexander and Damon Fann came up big down the stretch. An Oakwood win would give the Ambassadors the season sweep and likely help them avoid playing one of the top seeds in the HBCUAC Championship, which is slated to start Feb. 25 in Tuscaloosa.

Jordan Bell has been Oakwood's most consistent player this season, averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Alexander is averaging 13.3 points and 3.8 rebounds, while Jordan Green is averaging 10.4 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Voorhees has lost three straight games.

Keshawn Evans, the Tigers' leading scorer (17.0) and rebounder (10.0), didn't play Wednesday night. Omari Bryson led Voorhees with 24 points against Oakwood.

Voorhees finishes the regular season Sunday at home against Rust College, while

Oakwood closes out the season Tuesday at Talladega College.

The Ambassadors outlasted the Tigers 72-65 Wednesday night as Saniya Keys,
Trenisha Adams and Morgan Bone combined for 58 points.

Oakwood is currently in fifth place in the East Division, while Voorhees is in last place.
