OAKWOOD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STUGGLES IN LOSS TO TENNESSEE-MARTIN

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin scored early and often Sunday afternoon and cruised to an easy 78-53 victory over Oakwood University in a women's basketball game inside the Kathleen & Tom Elam Center.

The Skyhawks led 45-21 at intermission and were never threatened the rest of the way.

Oakwood fell to 3-5 with the loss. UT-Martin, an NCAA Division I program in the Ohio Valley Conference, improved to 2-4.

Saniya Keys led the Ambassadors with 15 points and four rebounds. Trenisha Adams had seven points, six rebounds and four assists, while Kamaria Murray also had seven points.

Oakwood shot 32.7 percent (18-of-55) from the field, including 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from 3-point range, and 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the free throw line.

The Ambassadors committed 29 turnovers that led to 29 points by the Skyhawks. UT-Martin also outscored Oakwood 38-20 in points in the paint and 28-14 in bench scoring.

Norah Clark led the Skyhawks with 14 points. Kenley McCarn and Zy Thompson scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

UT-Martin shot 42.6 percent (29-of-68) from the field, including 17.4 percent (4-of-23) from beyond the arc, and 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is back in action Thursday at Wilberforce University in an HBCU Athletic Conference game.
