OAKWOOD FALLS TO WEST ALABAMA

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama had five players finish in double figures as the Tigers made it look easy enroute to a 106-57 win over Oakwood University Sunday afternoon inside Pruitt Hall.
 
The Tigers built a commanding 52-17 lead at intermission and never looked back.
 
The loss dropped Oakwood to 2-7 on the season. UWA, an NCAA Division II school in the Gulf South Conference, improved to 4-1.
 
Jordan Hill finished with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists to lead the Ambassadors. Nobody else scored more than nine points.
 
Oakwood shot 33.3 percent (21-of-63) from the field, including 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from 3-point range, and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the free throw line.
 
Caleb Parr led UWA with 17 points. Inslee Carroll finished with 16, Elliot Tulip 14, Rase Frederick 13 and Chris Thompson finished with 10.
 
The Tigers shot 55.9 percent (38-of-68) from the field, including 50 percent (12-of-24) from beyond the arc, and 85.7 percent (18-of-21) from the charity stripe.
 
UWA outscored Oakwood 48-20 in points in the paint, 50-32 in bench points and 21-5 in second chance points.
 
Oakwood is back in action Thursday when it visits Wilberforce University in an HBCU Athletic Conference game.
